According to Thailandââ¬â¢s constitution the king is obliged to be a Buddhist. Thailand is perhaps the only country in the world where the king is constitutionally stipulated to be a Buddhist and the upholder of the Faith. ââ¬ËThe Land of Yellow Robesââ¬â¢ is a surname given to Thailand by many foreigners for yellow robes are what the Buddhists Monks wears and they are seen everywhere on the streets. In Thailand there is a special form of greeting which is the Wai. There is no shaking of hands, or things like that, in Thailand and the Wai is the way by which people greets each other. Buddhism impacts on Thailand in several different ways. First of all Buddhism makes it easier to communicate as mostly everyone shares the same culture and comes from the same background. Usually communication is done very calmly, even if something annoys one of the communicators, due to the fact that Buddhists believe that showing anger openly might attract the wrath of the spirits, which in turn could cause violence and tragedy. Then the Thais pay a lot of respect towards their elders and to people higher in the hierarchy. A disadvantage to business communication is that the government allows people to take three months leave, on full pay, to do their ââ¬Ëmonk-hoodââ¬â¢. The Buddhism is a very deep religion with lots of concepts and practices. Thailand, being a region 95% populated by Buddhists is really influenced by this religion. To conclude, the impact of Buddhism on the business communication is very important. People tend to behave in a calm way at work and respect their colleagues admirably.

Brand Loyalty Essays
Brand Loyalty Essays Brand Loyalty Essay Brand Loyalty Essay One of the major goals of marketing is reaching the brand loyalty phase to a customer. Brand loyalty would be the commitment of a consumer to continue purchasing and supporting the company/brand. Companies benefit from this because they have a constant customer who would spread the word about the company and will be willing to pay higher prices for a certain product or service. Brand Loyalty Most people if not everyone is loyal to a certain brand or service. When a company offers good customer service, a unique product, benefits for purchasing that product and other incentives, etc, a consumer will start leaning to that brand each time they consider purchasing that product. I recently asked my husband about any brands he considered to be loyal to, he told me that Apple/ Macintosh is one of his favorite electronics brand. Things that attracted him and held him to this brand were their original designs/looks, great customer service, dependability, and frequent innovations. In 1976 Apple Computer Inc. ame to be in Cupertino, California. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. In 2007 they dropped ââ¬Å"Computerâ⬠from their name because of their expansion in electronic products. Since the early days of Apple, they have been known to ââ¬Å"reinvent the wheelâ⬠and taking the risk of trying something new and innovative. Apple has always strived to push the limits and to provide more efficient computers, s leeker designs, and products offered by no other company. Apple is also known to be a very environmentally conscious company. Consumers enter into a purchase with certain expectations about a product or a service and satisfaction is the hoped-for-outcome. Those expectations are based on (1) Past buying experience, (2) Brand connotations, (3) Word-of-mouth, (4) The firmââ¬â¢s promotional material and communication, (6) Individual persuability and perceptual distortion, and (7) Price. In this context, brand loyalty occurs as a result of customer satisfaction because consumers commit to a certain brand based on favorable attitudes and behavioral responses. Behavioral and Attitudinal brand loyalty: Brand loyalty can be classified into two broad categories:à a) Behavioral brand loyalty is measured by the ratio of the times that a repeated purchase occurs over total purchases. This measurement of proportion of purchases includes cognitive, affective and co native features, which imply an indirect relationship between brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. In other words, considerations of customers perceptions about a brand can make or break a firmââ¬â¢s branding strategy in the context of repetitive purchases when measuring brand loyalty levels. ) Attitudinal brand loyalty holds that brand loyalty involves a favorable attitude which reflects a preference or commitment expressed over time. This argument implies that consumers like the particular firm more than its competitors and therefore they express a favorable preference over the firmââ¬â¢s products or services. Both behavioral and attitudinal brand loyalty consider that consumer have developed a feeling of favorab le attitudes towards the organization and therefore they engage in repeat purchases. However, marketing studies hold that, often, repeat purchases occur as a result of convenience or lack of alternatives bearing no intentional component. Factors influencing brand loyalty: It has been suggested that loyalty includes some degree of pre-dispositional commitment toward a brand. Brand loyalty is viewed as multidimensional construct. It is determined by several distinct psychological processes and it entails multivariate measurements. Customers perceived value, brand trust, customers satisfaction, repeat purchase behavior, and commitment are found to be the key influencing factors of brand loyalty. Commitment and repeated purchase behavior are considered as necessary conditions for brand loyalty followed by perceived value, satisfaction, and brand trust. Fred Reichheld, one of the most influential writers on brand loyalty, claimed that enhancing customer loyalty could have dramatic effects on profitability. Among the benefits from brand loyalty. Specifically, longer tenure or staying as a customer for longer was said to be lower sensitivity to price. This claim had not been empirically tested until recently. Recent research found evidence that longer-term customers were indeed less sensitive to price increases. Benefits of brand loyalty: The benefits of brand loyalty for a firm are numerous. First of all, loyal customers are less price- sensitive, which means that they are ready to pay a higher price, if required, in order to acquire the product or service. As a result, apart from higher profitability for the firm, the cost incurred for pursuing new customers is reduced. Loyal customers are also strong advocates of the firm playing a powerful role in the decision making process of other people. The word-of-mouth advertisement is a strong marketing tool that improves the firmââ¬â¢s reputation and brings certainty to the firm by enlarging its customer base. In addition, loyal customer expose higher tolerance for mistakes, are willing to provide feedback for any unfulfilled needs, to try additional products and to offer a higher share of wallet. In todays highly competitive environments, improving consumers loyalty to brands permits marketers to maintain a comfortable and lasting position in the marketplace. The issue of brand loyalty has been examined at great length. Branding is by far one of the most important factors influencing an items success or failure in the marketplace, and can have a dramatic impact on how the company behind the brand is perceived by the buying public. In other words, the brand is not just a representation of a companys product; it is a symbol ofà the company itself, and that is where the core of brand loyalty lies. Therefore, a strong brand is more than just a name; it is a promise that can be trusted.

Was the Second Republic always destined to loose the war conflict in Research Paper
Was the Second Republic always destined to loose the war conflict in the Spanish Civil War - Research Paper Example The Spanish civil war started with a military revolution. The long history of intervention of military power and control in Spain has affected the political life of the country to great extent. The revolution of 17th July of 1936 became an intense one and used old instruments for the purpose of making significant political changes in the country. Josà © Sanjurjo was the leader of that time of the Second Spanish Republic. A group of generals who were under the leadership of Josà © Sanjurjo started the war through declaration of opposition. This opposition was declared against the government, against the President of that time Manuel Azaà ±a. Several conservative groups (most important of these groups were Spanish Confederation of the Autonomous Right) have supported this coup and created the revolution a significant revolution in the country. This revolution was the war between the new and the old. The war was against the democratic government of Spain which was ruling the country during 1930s. The war came to an end with the triumph of the Nationalists, more importantly conservative Nationalists. In this way the Second Spanish Republic came to an end in the 1st April, 139 when they were defeated by conservative Nationalists . This paper is aimed at describing a critical context of the loss of the Second Spanish Republic in the Spanish Civil War. The war began as military revolution and then it became the revolution of every citizen of the country and created significant political changes in the country. One of the most important features of this change was the demolition of the democratic government of the country and demolition of the Second Spanish Republic. At the time of revolution the country was facing several internal conflicts related to political, social, cultural and also to economic contexts. Various small revolts were going on in the country by reformists and conservative Nationalists. With the establishment of Spanish Constitution in 1812 the monarchy of the ancient regime has been abolished. This change led to the establishment of a compatible state with more ideologically constructed nature. After the creation of the Spanish Constitution and before

Literature Survey for - What are the benefits and costs of worker Essay
Literature Survey for - What are the benefits and costs of worker training, and who should pay for training - Essay Example Moreover, Acemoglu and Pischke argue that worker training is important especially with the ever changing technology in organizations (1999, p.2). In a bid to increase productivity and retain relevance in competitive industries, organizations have to constantly change and adopt to new technology. As a result, workers need to attend trainings on how to effectively use new technology. Studies show that highly skilled workers easily and effectively adapt to new tasks and technology compared to low skilled workers. Furthermore, highly skilled workers were found to be more innovative hence yielding better performance (Blundell, Dearden, Meghir, and Sianesi, 1999, p. 14). This implies that worker trainings ensure that the entire workforce is always in conversance with organization equipment and technology thereby maintaining high productivity. In addition, the basic education attained in institutions of higher learning and other basic education providers is arguably not enough to produce optimum results. As a result, there is need for continued worker training to impact the essential knowledge required for maximum productivity. According to Preffer and Fong a consultancy firm can produce a two-year learning experience in colleges in three weeks (qtd. in Xie and Steiner 2013, p.3). This implies that worker training can be considered more effective than the basic education learnt in schools since people already have first-hand experiences in the course of work. However, this is not to say that basic education is irrelevant but it is to lay emphasis on the need to promote and incorporate worker training in organizations. This is further emphasized by Acemoglu and Pischke who argue that ââ¬Ëmost lines of business require a set of skills that cannot be impacted by the basic education (1999, p. 2). This implies that for maxi mum efficiency, worker education should be incorporated

Culture of American Indians Essay Example for Free
Culture of American Indians Essay In Against the Grain, environmental journalist Richard Manning (2004) argues that notions of class and property are a direct result of the emergence of agricultural civilizations beginning 10,000 years ago. This is because of the social necessities demanded by distribution and storage of surplus. Conversely, he points out the contrastingly egalitarian nature of the hunter-gatherer lifestyles and the deeper social ties which result from cooperative food acquisition. Consider for example, the Plains Indians of North America prior to the arrival of European settlers, who would utilize their knowledge of buffalo movement patterns to haze and herd them, towards a cliff. By diverting the stampede of a large number of animals to their sudden vertical death, they would obtain a caloric pay-off through minimal effort, but ââ¬Å"required social organization and sharing, both of the labor and of the proceeds.â⬠(Manning, 2004; South Dakota State Historical Society Education Kit, 2008) Yet despite this element of uncertainty in hunting and gathering, Richard Steckel notes that towards the end of the 19th century, the Plains Indians were among the tallest people in the world and argues despite the numerous technological and agricultural advances they did not have, they were surprisingly well-nourished compared to whites, indicating that agriculture should not be taken for granted as the sign of social advancement it is purported be, Manning notes that, in the absence of storage means and preservation technologies, it was impossible for the Plains Indians to hoard bison meat. Therefore wealth accumulation was impossible. As such, ââ¬Å"communal feasting became the payoff for social organization,â⬠argues Manning Agriculture on the hand, created social stratification in the form of governance, hierarchy and other institutions necessary for the management of food surplus. Although there is certain room for question to be made about the true egalitarianism of the hunter gatherer cultures of the Plains Indians, they certainly lacked some of the rigidly defined political structures which characterized those belonging to the cultures of Europeans at the point of first contact. Comanche leadership was rather informal, usually identifiable by consensus rather than by any formal nomination to the position and the longevity of a war chiefs authority lasted only as long as they were at war. (Bial, 2000) The Blackfoot people maintained a flexible social structure, a band, which was in constant flux. As such, social relationships were not determined solely by kinship but by residence. In modern times, the case for the difference between hunter-gatherer Native Americans such as the Plains Indians of pre-modern times and the agricultural Native Americans can be observed in the difference between the Inuit peoples, who live a predominantly hunter-gatherer lifestyle out in the Arctic regions (Snow, 1996) and the peoples of the Cherokee and Lakota. The Inuit are noted for their strong sense of community and flexible division of labor among gender lines. The Cherokee and the Lakota, however, have now long been agricultural societies characterized by their class and gender divisions, as well as their contentious disposition towards identity and blood quantum laws. Towards Clarity and Boredom :: Writing Writers Education English Essays
Towards Clarity and Boredom Begrudgingly Admitting the Usefulness of Style Books When God stood over the Earth, rumor has it; he decreed that he felt the need to punish English Students everywhere. His response was swift and to the point: he gave the world Style Guides. Taking the big guyââ¬â¢s cue, William Strunk Jr, E.B.White and Joseph Williams all set about to light that path and frustrate writers and students everywhere. Mission accomplished. However boring they might be, they do, in fact, help light the path to writing and proper English style. In the end, while both books might be on the dry side, they both are great resources and often plug the otherââ¬â¢s holes. Dealing with ââ¬Å"The Elements of Styleâ⬠first, itââ¬â¢s very clear to me that both Strunk and White really hated going over the same rules again and again year after year with each new crop of Freshmen every semester. That seems to be the overall tone of the book. You can almost see the kind of guy who wrote this: a foppish older book ââ¬â possibly British ââ¬â who stands over you and berates you over the ââ¬Å"do and donââ¬â¢tsâ⬠of proper semi-colon usage. Sounds like a blast. While definitely not a rock and roll show by any stretch, ââ¬Å"The Elements of Styleâ⬠has several perks outside the content. First thing is that the book is only 85 pages. 85 Pages is something that, maybe, a student could read on a public bus on the way to an English class. Itââ¬â¢s small, sleek, compact and easy to reference from. Also, itââ¬â¢s been written in a style that interjects some humor into the rather vanilla topic. Finally, Strunk and White keep it light. There isnââ¬â¢t anything more then the rule, a few examples and a brief passage about the rule. Nothing more, nothing less. Personally, there were a few rules from the list of several hundred that will benefit me in my present and future writing endeavors. ââ¬Å"Do not break sentences in twoâ⬠(Strunk and White 7) is a rule that is good to keep handy.

Pedro Calungsod
MOVIE REVIEW(Pagsusuri ng Pelikula)While Calungsodââ¬â¢s importance in our countryââ¬â¢s history is indisputable, his significance as a compelling subject for a feature length film is an entirely different matter. If the filmââ¬â¢s narrative is anything to go on, Calungsodââ¬â¢s life is nothing more than a series of drudging sermons that ultimately lead to an untimely death on the beach. The film itself does its best to remain faithful to the historical events surrounding Calungsodââ¬â¢s missionary work, focusing on his life in the Marianas in an effort to baptize the local Chamorro natives. But the end result feels more like a dispassionate history lesson than a compelling cinematic experience.PEDRO CALUNGSODââ¬Å"The Filipino Saintâ⬠THE MOVIEBUOD(Summary)Pedro Calungsod is a teenage Saint. He Was Killed in Guam at a Very Young age.But Despie his Youthfulness,he was a man of Character,he was responsible in his Duties at Catechesist,he was firm in depending his f aith and he was steadfast in in shielding his friends. Saint Pedro Calungsod (c. 1654 ââ¬â April 2, 1672) is a Filipino Roman Catholic martyr who was killed while doing missionary work in Guam in 1672. He was beatified on March 5, 2000, by Pope John Paul II. As a skilled sacristan and teacher of cathecism, he was a companion of Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores to the Marianas Islands. Through their efforts, many receive the sacraments especially that of baptism.A man named Choco became envious of the prestige that the missionaries were gaining among the Chamorros. He started to spread rumors that the baptismal water of the missionaries was poisonous. Because some sickly Chamorro infants who had been baptized died, many believed Choco and eventually apostatized. Choco found an ally in the local medicine man, Macanjas, and the Urritaos, young native men who were given to some immoral practices. These, along with the apostates, began to persecute the missionaries, many of whom wer e killed. At around seven o'clock that morning, Padre Diego and Pedro Calungsod went to the village of Tomhon in Guam because they were told that a baby girl was just born in the village. They went to ask Matapang, the child's father, to bring the baby out for baptism. Matapang had been a Christian and a friend of the missionaries but had apostatized. He angrily refused to have his baby christened. Those who personally knew Pedro believed that he would have defeated his aggressors and would have freed both himself and Padre Diego if only he had some weapon. But Padre Diego never allowed his companions to carry arms. The faith that was planted in the Marianas in 1668 did not die with Padre Diego, Pedro Calungsod and the first missionaries. It grew, thanks to the blood of the martyrs and the perseverance of the succeeding missionaries. Today, Blessed Pedro Calungsod intercedes for the young, in particular those of his native Philippines, and he challenges them. Young friends, do not hes itate to follow the example of Pedro, who ââ¬Ëpleased God and was loved by himââ¬â¢ and who, having come to perfection in so short a time, lived a full life.â⬠The feast of Blessed Pedro is celebrated every 2 April, the anniversary of his martyrdom. If the date falls within Holy Week or Easter Week, the feast is observed on the Saturday before Passion Sunday as was 2 April in 1672. On 21 October 2012, Pope Benedict XVI, in a solemn ceremony at Saint Peterââ¬â¢s Basilica, will inscribe the name of Blessed Pedro Calungsod in the Canon or list of Saints and from then on, the teenage Visayan martyr will be invoked as Saint Pedro Calungsod or San Pedro Calungsod.REFLECTION Tama ba ang Napanuod ko?NAME: DELA CRUZ, Gay SUBJECT: Philippine History and Nationalism TIME: 8:30-10:00AM MOVIE REVIEWNot so long ago, I finally came into a certain understanding that Filipino films will always be inclined into ââ¬Ëmelodrama': The sappy music, intense displays of physical animation to accompany the drama, and of course, tears. It's a nauseating phenomenon in the Philippine movie industry whenà absolutely done the wrong way. But thank god there are films such as ââ¬Å"Tatlong Taong Walang Diyosâ⬠to serve as timeless testaments to the magic that ââ¬Ëmelodrama' can create and manifest within one's senses and emotions, from simple to complex, when done perfectly. The film started with Hitler's rhyming, mouth-foaming speech regarding the strength of his socialist party. Being set in the times of the Second World War, the film unveils like how a history text book would for a student. But after this run-of-the-mill introduction, its story unfolds like how a poet affects to even the farthest of souls. In plain sight, the film may look like your typical ââ¬Ëlove caught by the tides of war' and a period vehicle for its star and producer, Nora Aunor. Granted, the love story arc is already established prior to the complications of the narrative, but I am deeply surprised and pleasured how complex the film really was.TATLONG TAONG WALANG DIYOS
